Book Review: Just For You by Rahul Saini

Name of the Book: Just For You

Author: Rahul Saini

Publisher: Penguin Books Ltd

About the Author: Rahul Saini is an Indian author of contemporary fiction. His stories have comic tones and portray the fun-loving and free-spirited Indian youth of today. Books authored by him are: Those Small Lil’ Things, Just Like In The Movies, The Orange Hangover, Paperback Dreams, and Just For You.

Blurb: Life has been very hard on Rohit lately. He has trouble with his publishing deals, his job and his relationship. Also, Karun is still trying to do whatever he can to ruin Rohit’s reputation as a writer. His receives his real blow when Nisha leaves him. He must prove his love for her and do what it takes to win her back. He slowly starts to gain control of his life and things start to change for the better. Will Nisha see this and come back to him? This is a story about love and the responsibilities that come with it. (Via Flipkart)

Verdict: As the blurb clearly states, the story revolves around Rahul, his professional life as well as his personal life. When his life starts to be problematic he starts to lose all what he has achieved till date. His publishing deals, his job gives him n number of issues but he gets the biggest blow when the love of his life, Nisha, leaves him. How will Rahul tackle all these situations? Will he keep calm and try to gain all back or will he lose himself in his troubles and painful events of his life? Let’s watch out more of what Rahul’s life has in its store for him.

Positives:
1) Nice story line.
2) Good cover but could have been better to suit the story line.
Negatives:
1)   Visible editing hinges.
2)   Tara earlier has been introduced as Meetali’s cousin and later introduced as Meetali’s friend.
3)   In the end there’s nothing mentioned about Neeti and her professional front.

To sum up with the review it’s a nice story but could have been dealt in a much better way. The blurb only mentions about Rahul and his issues but actually the story gives equal focus on other characters like Karun, Jeet and Neeti; so a little of them in the blurb would have done a world of good for the reader to know about the actual story plot. Plus, though in the end the focus revolves around Rahul and about his trials to make things better in his life, but when the story starts the title ‘Just For You’ doesn’t seems to fit the bill as all other characters get so much of weightage.

The story does give a little bit of the insights of the way publishing industry works. It’s nice to see someone takes up this kind of topic for their book. The real question is, “Are these ways and means of publishing industry true!!?” ;)

Book Review: Obstinacy Dauntless Chase (e-book) by Dhishna Radhay

Name of the Book: Obstinacy Dauntless Chase (e-book)

Author: Dhishna Radhay

About the Author: Born in Mauritius, Dhishna has been a secondary school teacher in various schools across the island. She is currently an Executive Assistant in a prestigious company in Dubai, where she moved in 2005. Since then, Dubai and its people have taken a fundamental place in her life and heart. Writing is her passion and she has been writing since the age of fifteen. This is her first book and she is currently working on a collection of short stories.

Verdict: This story revolves around Cléopâtre Lamaure who was born in a small town in Mauritius who is not only beautiful but also witty and courageous who lives with her four year old son Steve. The story depicts life of Cléopâtre and her struggles. What happens in her life that she who was kind and smiling as ever was bound to be cold and unsympathetic to the outside world? Will she be able to write her own destiny or will she succumb to her destiny’s plans? All the answers of why, when, if’s and but lie in this book.
It is a nice story line depicting how a woman deals with all the issues that persist in our society and is bound to either rebel and win or succumb and bow down to the male dominating society. Though nice the book could have been better as it lacks the depth and detailing factor, but for an e book comprising of fifty seven pages it’s written nicely. But if only the author could pull it off atleast till a minimum of hundred pages and gone into more detailing it would have come out in a good way.
Two people are named as Steve though with different spellings. It may confuse the reader as a spelling mistake. If only those two characters were named differently it would do a lot deal of good to the book as well as save the reader from being confused.

To sum up with the review it’s a nice story portraying the strength and issues a woman faces even in today's world and how she tries to fight with them and stand on her own with dignity and respect. A nice read.
