Book Review: Bad Romance by Harshita Srivastava

Name of the Book: Bad Romance

Author: Harshita Srivastava

Publisher: Gargi Publishers

About the Author: A full-time writer, she is the author of 'One In A Million' that got published by Mahaveer Publishers in April 2013. She is an avid reader and a prolific blogger. She was the editor and contributor of a romantic anthology, 'Moonlit Matinee'. She loves reading classics and is a diehard Mills and Boons fan. Blurb: Life is a bitch and I'm one of its victims. I had the perfect life. I was blessed with the perfect boyfriend, a perfect best friend, the perfect set of girlfriends and perfect choice of career. There were some loopholes but then they went beyond my perspective. Overall, I had the kind of life people would ideally like to have but happy times aren't meant to last forever.

Sometimes we feel that we have figured life but that's something that is never going to happen. You know why? It's because it has this habit of kicking us right in the middle of ecstasy. No wonder, it did the same with me.

This is my story, my story of that exploration within, my feelings, my emotions, my thought process, my priorities, my conflicts and my journey into the temptation of love, lust, lies and betrayals. This is the story of Kritika and a man who gave her life another dimension, Tanishq. This is a story of the complexities of relationships and the trap that a simple idea of sensuality, pleasure and euphoria can put you into. This is a story for everyone who has loved, lost and fought for survival and love, together. (Via Infibeam)

Verdict: As the blurb clearly states, the story revolves around Kritika and her life. When she was on the verge of feeling that her life is flowing perfectly on her side, with all the kind of friends everybody dies for and the love life with the perfect guy who cares beyond limit for his girl, her life and destiny kicked her right in the middle of her happiness. What will she do in such a situation? How will she clear the mess created? Will she be able to find out the real reason of such a mess in her life? Let’s read the book and find out.

1) Good story line.
2) Lovely cover.
3) Font size if good enough and won’t hurt your eyes while reading no matter how big specs you have.

1)   Too many editing hinges which makes it tough for the reader to built interest. Every few pages there are mistakes which could have been avoided to make the reading fluid.

To sum up with the review it’s a good story line stating the position of a girl who goes through ups and downs in her life because of the decisions taken in her life. The story covers the most used abuses women in our society faces – verbal abuses, and she tackles these things in her life. Only if good attention was paid to the editing part this book could have been a 4 scorer book. All in all it’s a nice read though you need to pay attention to build interest leaving the editing issues aside.

Book Review: Unsatisfied Satisfaactionns by Riitik Babbar

Name of the Book: Unsatisfied Satisfaactionns

Author: Riitik Babbar

Publisher: Authors Empire Publications

About the Author: Riitik Babbar is an Indian author from Delhi. He has penned down the book Unsatisfied Satisfaactions. (Via Flipkart)

Blurb: Unsatisfied Satisfactions, a confusing combination of two words, are the feelings when someone close to you, whom you loved the most, is no more in your life but you are still satisfied thinking about that someones well being and happiness. You bequeath your happiness to see that person satisfied.
Riitik, a common boy from a Punjabi family, fell in love with Niyati who belongs to a Brahmin family. After a good, unforgettable time spent together and having one of the best love moments anyone could think of, they dreamt of being together to measure every thick and thins of life. They thought that nothing in the world was strong enough to put them apart. No other relation was more important to them than theirs. And they were meant to be for each other truly, madly and deeply.
But then, destiny, which made them meet first, played its game again and things changed with its one Masterstroke. (Via HS18)

Verdict: As the blurb clearly states, the story revolves around Riitik, a Punjabi boy, who falls in love with Niyati, a Brahmin girl. The story states of how these two meet each other out of the blue and fall in love. What felt like an eternity and when wishes of spending their life’s together started to seep in, that’s when destiny plays its mysterious role and they fall apart. What will happen to these two when they fall apart? Will they be able to pick up their life and move ahead or will they be still stuck in the beautiful moments of past? Let’s find out what and how they will do in their lives.

1) Nice story line.
2) Nice cover but could have been better.
3) The usage of anonymous shayaris is good.
1)   Editing hinges.
2)   A name spelt as Preeti once and twice as Preety.
3)   The story in the initial phase felt kiddish and could be dealt in a much matured way.

To sum up with the review it’s a nice story but could have been dealt in a much better way. It could have been written in a matured way and avoiding the way it sounds kiddish in the first half part. There’s nothing much unusual about the story line which we all might have read somewhere or the other or may have seen on television as well. But only if it would have been handled better it could bind the reader in a proper manner. Poems or shayaris written by the writer itself could have been helpful. The usage of language at some places is good.
